November 25th, 2017 started out as any day does around here when it’s just Cody and I at home. We laid in bed, contemplating what we were going to do for the day. I had been wanting to go to Mount Scott to scout it out for future sessions. We decided to go for it, we did not have any other plans and it would be something different to do for the day. Cody insisted that we take the tripod and the remote so we could take some self portraits once we got there. I mean, we were driving 3 hours, so we might as well, right?
Little did I know that he was planning on proposing to me once we arrived. We had talked about getting married but I had no idea when he would actually propose. Once we got to Mount Scott, we hiked out to the spot and set up the tripod. I was taking my time setting everything up. Cody was extremely impatient with me, which was odd because he is the most patient man I know. I just thought he was cold (ha!). I kept moving us to make sure we were in the best location with the best light for our self portraits. The sun was quickly sinking and Cody kept saying “just come on, I’m sure it’s fine, the sun is setting fast!”
I finally had the camera set up the way I wanted it and carefully made my way out to this cliff. He set the timer and said “Baby, let’s take some photos and just do the first thing that comes to mind.” We hugged for a few seconds and then he dropped to one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my days with him. I was 100% surprised and of course I said YES!
I’m so thankful for this man, his patience, strength and love. I absolutely adore him.
